Thinking of swapping this

For this

I've not driven one of these (I know I should!) But I'm just wondering how shocked I'm going to be going from a modern porsche to a modified classic? Am I mad?

You are not mad but you are right that you should try one out. They are great fun.

If your Carrera is like being with a supermodel in her 40s, the older car will be like having a time machine back to when she was still in her 20s. wink

Had similar thoughts myself recently.

The GT3 is somewhat restricted on the road and for only 3k miles pa, I have wondered if an old resto would be as good a weekend diversion?

I went from

to this

No regrets at all - loving the air cooled.

Having said that - the 997 was a daily driver and the 964 is more of a weekend car. Wouldn't want to put it, or me, through the daily commute.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I think I'll do what's so hard to do and wait. I use my 997 as a daily drive, so I'm not sure really if the retro thing is really that sensible.

I've just watched the Magnus Walker video on the other thread. I love the silver 911, so I think I'll hold fire and buy something which is a project (aka money pit) that I can play with over a few years. It would be nice to have a legacy style project which is intended for long term ownership smile

I love my 997 Turbo and there's no way I'd go back to a 996/993/964 etc....

Yes I like retro air-cooled stuff, but I'd only entertain a 959 or 2.7RS if I ever had the opportunity (read funds!).
