I'm off for a little trip to Holland this weekend to see some friends. It'll be the 4th excursion into Europe for the Cerby in the last three years. The last one ended up with a flat tire (at the hoverport in Calais - made it back from Germany no problems, pulled into the queue.....)

Well, it looks like I'll have to take the Breskens Ferry over a small stretch of water. It apparently runs every 30 mins, but other than that, I know nothing.

Anyone know costs? Am I going to have problems getting a Cerby on?

Any help would be useful, especially driving tips, as I have never been to Holland.

Also, anywhere good to go for a "rag". I presume the roads are pretty flat, so not the most exciting country to drive in - prove me wrong :-)

Thanks

Paul

Somewhere not to go for a "rag", Hardknot Pass near Scafell. Bloody hell, crossed it over the weekend in the Gralé, scrape, scrape, clunk. There were some bits where my two mates (both lads) were screaming though The area around where we ended up though (Wasdale Head) was very good, you just need to watch out for bad bits in the road. There was some jap guy in a Morgan absolutely ragging it then slamming on over the pass, it was really bouncing about though and he nearly hit quite a few things. Other mate in a Rover 216 suffered extreme brake fade to the point where her brakes were burning. I was happy with the gralé, just not the road.

Most rewarding bit was on the way home when my mate was following me, got overtaken by a Corvette C5. Very nice car, lovely sound. He just came flying past my mate and then me, so I set off after him, I think he thought he was going to get away too He pulled away on the hills but then as soon as a corner came I could almost overtake him. After a bit he let me past and then set off after me. About 5 miles later and many corners later he was gone. Slowed down when we got to a village to wait for my mate and pulled into a garage. The chap came in and parked up, asking me what the hell was going on with my car . We had a chat for a bit and it seems he is changing it for a Tuscan. Good lad.

Wow, didn't know that. On the left eh? Don't think we'll make it up to Amsterdam, then again, doesn't look like the best weather in the world this weekend.

Thanks

Froim my (relatively limited) experience of driving in Europe, I have noticed the, shall we say, lack of roadcraft, posessed by many flatlanders!

If you're blatting down a clearish stretch of Autobahn, and suddenly, inexplicably, a slower car cuts in front of you, it'll probably have an "NL" plate/sticker (otherwise probably "GB").

So beware. With the driving standards, and the authorities attitude to speeding, I can't think it's the best place for a really good thrash.

Err, GTIR,.... You may well be joking, in which case: very good one, but your "dutch" actually translates to:

Have enjoyment girlfriend, and driveway softly
Also, Dutchman driveway lefthand lane.
And Amsterdam is clearly very hot this multiplied by year.

What was this, Babylon or Babelfish in action?
