To be honest, if you're achieving your target boost and holding it the actuator doesn't matter. What boost are you currently running?

Get the boost controller first. Doesn't sound like the actuator is leeking much, if at all. As for gas flow etc...Well, in my opinion if you've got a turbo car, don't bother unless the heads etc are known to be really bad as standard. Unlikely on MR2's I'd say, but I've never had one in bits so...

Looking at your car details the issue you have is the head skim. That's obviously going to raise the CR and limit the safe boost you can run.

Great idea. I can't tell you how many turbo cars I've seen that've been run at stupid boost levels...for varying amounts of time...but always with the same result.

Other things to think about are injector sizes, and if you need bigger ones. The RR day should be able to meassure the duty cycle to make sure, as you know, you don't run lean and melt.

Going for weight reduction as well? It's additive I warn you. I bought some new speakers for the Noble, and it niggled me they were heavier than the old ones!

Try better intercooling instead, more reliable horsepower with the same boost levels. If your upping the bbost levels check your turbo specs as quite often upping the boost simply just increases the air temp & pressure (ie less efficient) so you end with detonation & or retarded ingnition.

MR2's are rather knwon for high intake temps so water injection might be the best route.

To give you some idea one of my old cars, running 11psi standard went from 148bhp standard to 198bhp using better/bigger/more efficient intercooling & water inection. All on original boost pressures.

Yeah, I had this in mind, running with water injection, as a decent intercooler is getting on for £750-£900 new, so I'll wait for one to appear on e-bay.


All good stuff,if large amounts of turbo boost is your main aim,once you have a boost controller ,a thicker steel head gasket will help lower compression.B/contr-for the money a greddy profec B spec 2,IMHO reccomended.Will give you a hi + lo boost with adjustable over-boost reduction for safety .)
