Transmission line work?

I'm just finishing my apprenticeship as a mechanic don't really want to stay in the motor industry and not sure if i can take my skills elsewhere , although I'm intrested in working with transmission lines anyone know where to start old friend google isn't turning up much ? Cheers

They're massively expanding in the transmission sector.

I'd say it's definitely worth giving Scottish & Southern Energy a try, they're very busy at the moment with power line construction.

Companies such as Amec and Balfour Beatty supply the staff for National Grid. They have the National Grid Logos on their clothing and vehicles. There is an expansion at present but usually lots of applicants. So you will have to find out which PLC is recruiting in your area. Ask someone in a National Grid van or whatever it is in Scotland.

If your CV gets chosen then there is the interview. Big emphasis on H&S After that if you get short listed there are some tests involving climbing. The about 3 weeks of paid training
