My power steering lines on my monaro dont look too great and i was thinking of using braided hoses instead of the factory pipework.

I was just wondering if there are any places in Derby who could manufacture me the braided hose, if i gave the original pipe.

Ideally i need the replacement within 24 hours of dropping off the original.

Ive heard of Pirtek but have never used them, just wondering if there was anywhere else.

thanks

Pirtek are as you wait service but god they know how to charge. Try stapleford hydraulics not too far from derby. We use them for hoses from time to time and are fast and efficient and good price too.

cool i will try phoning stapleford hydraulics first, i will also see if anyone i know at work has any suggestions.

I think the oem line is around £300, so if i can get a braided version for around half that then im happy

Quick question: Are the existing pipes solid or hoses?

The current one has a small flexi end at the rack and a small flexi end at the res side but the majority is just a pipe

I wouldn't replace the solid pipe with flexible hose. Solid pipe works much better then flexible as it does not distort under pressure besides being cheaper and more durable. Lots of people replace the perfectly good factory pipe work on their brakes with flexible hose and then discover they have a very spongy pedal. You would not want a similar thing to happen with your power steering.

Although the idea that braided hoses are a 'performance upgrade' has been well pedalled to the general public by the likes of Goodridge (trying to sell their replacement hose kits) in reality solid pipe is the performance option. F1 teams spend huge amounts of money on custom made titanium pipework for their hydraulics with as little flexible hose as possible.
