I'll be driving past Le Mans on the Saturday afternoon and might have time to stop by for an hour or so.

Therefore I don't want to stump up for an event ticket, so is there any viewing possible from outside the circuit, e.g. on the more "open road" areas such as Mulsanne?

The karting track has free viewing of the Porsche curves on the buildings. Parking will be your biggest issue, bring a bike and park away.

I think you can also see a bit of Tetre-Rouge from outside. I went up there (outside the circuit) to take photos of the start of the run down Mulsanne using a pretty long lens. You get see the cars on track, but I wouldn't want to watch the whole race from there as the view is pretty samey and no real action there.

But wouldn't you need a general entry ticket to get to the karting building?

There is an occasionally a security guy there, explain that your mates have your ticket if he is there. I think that there is a right of access of sorts without the ticket. But if you slipped him a few euros if he was there I am sure he would let you in.

It is a spectacular place to watch from its the yellow and blue building. Get in touch with the chap with a car parking ticket for sale on the buy/sell thread he is a top guy.

Thanks for the useful info gents, I'll see how we get on; it would be nice to sample the atmosphere if only briefly.
