This is pretty much the last chapter (apart from replacing the looted stuff) in my car break-in saga.
I had to replace the steering column/wheel in my GTST 'liner, all done with a GTR column.Only prob the wheel internal design is Very slightly different.GTS has impact sensor in the wheel,I cant find the GTR one.so I cant just plumb in the old boss kit/air bag together. If I strip it all down again & use the GTR boss kit/GTR wheel/GTS airbag-every thing fits & all internal wiring is comaptable.
The GTR kit fitted came from a wreck in which the airbag had fired, does any one know is the air bag switching a 'OneShot' affair?-will it fire my new airbag, because its been fired before?
If all that made sense you deserve to be in MENSA.

Yes theyre usually a one shot deal.

Havent done anywork on skylines so cant be totally sure tho.
Usually the airbag goes off, the pretensioners fire off and thats that, but the airbag module that controls it all ends up being destroyed by the impact...something to do with the "G" forces reaching a certain point and then it fires, but thats the way its designed to work.
Id be very careful about plugging in components whose status is unknown, as if youre sitting in the car the new airbag will most likely go off in your face...not nice.

If in any doubt go to the main dealers and have a word with their senior technician, he'll be able to give you the specifics, whys, and wherefores.

hth.

Ps Too smart for those "dummies" at Mensa..
