Here's a link to a place in Devon that gives their costs of replacing the outriggers http://www.mbmotor-sport.com/10.html so this would set your upper limit for getting the job done.
If you want to do the donkey work yourself then a partial lift is not that tricky but you'll then need to organise someone to do the cutting, fabricating and welding. Unless you already know someone who will come out to do that, then that could be tricky.
You could always visit the TVRCC Cornwall site at http://www.tvrcc-cornwall.co.uk/ and give the RO a ring to see if he can help with names and ideas since he'll have local knowledge.

Also see my website where you'll see I've done a full lift (preceeded by a partial lift). I'm also happy if you want to pop around one weekend and I can talk you through things if you need. I am based in Plymouth so not too far for you to travel and as the car is without engine at the moment access to some areas is much easier. If you want to come round email me at the contact me link on my website and we can arrange a time.
I did my donkey work and paid a welder to do the cutting and welding and paid around £600 5 years ago to deal with the extensive rust you can see on the website (this included galvanised outriggers and all parts)

Thank you both, Mark I think a trip to plymouth to pick your brain would be most benificial thank you, I will be in touch when I get some time off. The trouble is of course knowing where to stop , to be honest the chassis looks ok but you just know there's bad news under there somewhere has anyone ever done a lift and said ' oh that's fine I'll give it some hamerite and put it back on ' ?

I'll send you a PM with some possibilities - recognise your work will drive but there are a number of restrictions on my side two - the PM will explain (don't want to put on open forum)mikel003003 said:

I would agree you are likely to find yourself doing more than you expected, if you look at my little shop of horrors that chassis had just passed an MOT and I had given it the best check I could with the body on (an I'm an Engineer so know what to look for) but still couldn't see how bad it was. That said if it needs doing don't put it off - it is safety after all, I was shocked as I had been driving mine for the summer and when I saw the lack of seat belt mounting points was positively thankful I hadn't needed them
