Any Friendly Porsche Employees Here or Race Teams
Discussion
Hi working on a project and wondering if theres anyone here that knows of someone Friendly in Porsche Dealerships as we need quite a few parts who can look after us
Or if anybody races them or knows of any Race Teams as usually they have a lot of Spares which can be offered
Same with any Porsche Approved Repair Garages or anybody who's got parts
Any help/info would be helpful as we need parts for mainly a 997 911
Thanks
Reiss
p.s can't find any decent UK Porsche Forums hence posting on here so if you know any good forums just let us know

Hi.
You forum is s
te but I'm posting anyway to see if someone will give me enough parts to build a free Porsche.
Click (and turn the speakers up a bit)
If you are serious Reiss then explain a little about what you are doing and what you need. It is unlikely that race teams will give you parts they can use themselves but you may well get working but out of hours mechanical parts. These may or may not suit your intended purpose.

tE and no am not asking for FREE PARTS but if someone is offering who am i to say NO lolWe are after mainly Front end panels and any turbo related parts
After speaking to numerous people they have told me lot of standard panels get replaced and usually offered at discounted prices or even chucked away within certain Race Teams
So enough with the slating please as thats the way i've taken your message
If our crap forum and our porsche dealers cant help you, I have an idea that you can use.
Open up a safari park
Train some monkeys
Every car leaving the monkey enclosure is always missing at least 3 parts and even if you dont get porsche panels, the amount of windscreen wipers you'll get should sell on ebay

I guess you must have mis-interpreted whatever you've been told. The cosmetic finish of a race car is far less paramount than on a road car, so if something isn't good enough for a race car it really is likely to be ready for the bin. I used to get given used headlight lenses by Unit 11 Porsche when they ran my race cars, because they had been replaced for new on road cars, but if they weren't actually fully cracked or broken I could use them. Same for the rear reflector - I had a couple that were held together with tie-wraps - if they were on a road car you'd be horrified but no-one noticed things like that from across the track when I was winning races.Good luck with whatever you're up to, but don't hold your breath for free parts - in general everything has a value. The car I'm racing this year had a bump (not in my hands) and it needed a few panels replacing (because they're all relatively cheap - had it been an air cooled 911 they may have attempted to repair them - difference between a £120 wing and a £300 one) - the old ones would be thrown away (although as they're liveried I think they may end up on the workshop wall as ornaments), but you'd be crazy to take them thinking you could repair them unless you want a) a rather poor result and b) place no value on your time.

tubro related parts? theres next to no one racing turbo 997s, theres no series for them to run in. i know of one guy in sweden who built a turbo race car though have no idea if it was for his private pleasure or where he was running it.
you are really asking in the wrong country for parts, theres woefully little racing going on with 997s here in the UK and as a result very little of anything. any take off parts floating about will be in the US since theres huge numbers of cars racing there at every level from recreational, up through club and professional.
in my experience race teams arent in the habit of just throwing away parts if they can be used and/or repaired so anything you can find will either be from folks current spares piles, from folks obsolete spares piles after a big model change or be removed parts after a car upgrade.
in every case you are going to have to pay for it, while you can make decent savings, especially if parts need overhauled and you can do it yourself, you wont get a part for a fraction of its worth and you will most likely need to have some form of relationship with them (directly or via another team/driver indirectly). most "clear out" parts are sold to other teams or race customers rather than going onto the open market.
people are generally unhelpful to outsiders for two main reasons, its a hassle and you are depriving racers of parts. as soon as you start dealing with people outside the racing world, they dont understand the technical issues and you end up involved in all manner of BS for no benefit.
spare body panels tend to be rare due to the high level of wear and tear they see and because by the time they arent being used on the car they are beyond repairable so mechanical parts are often more plentiful. the bigger teams with the larger budgets and the most parts tend to be the worst for holding on to parts too. as an example i know where theres mountains of ferrari parts that will never be used again that will also never be sold off or given away.
here a couple of pics of the spares store of one of the big teams racing 997 RSRs.
with that in mind you have really missed the boat for this year. everyone changes cars, clears out spares, upgrades parts etc etc during the winter when theres no racing so anything thats going about will tend to be available during this period and rehomed prior to things getting under way again.
what is it you are actually trying to do?
