Just been told that a blue Chimaera and black Tuscan S have been spotted in the Jubilee procession. Hope they don't overheat!

A parade of 50(?) years of TVR would have been better next to the AA parade (only joking)!!!!!!!!!

Was involved in the parade in Newmarket on Saturday, and they also included 50 cars for the Jubilee, one from each year. One BRG 1996 Chimaera attended.

Helped to organise a jubilee parade in our village on Monday. 2 tuscans, several Chimaeras, a Griff, 2 jags, an old Bentley, Capri, Race prepared motorbike, 2 Scubbies, Ferrari 348 and 360 spyder and a McLaren F1.
We sent the ferraris and McLaren in front as they were most likely to overheat!
I needed to show them all where to go so it was obvious that I HAD to go in the McLaren. Very snug inside. Now where is my lottery ticket...

And the Aston Martins were nice at the Newmarket parade. A DB6, DB4 (?) and a DB2... very nice. Though thought that the Cadillac repro was a touch tasteless.....

Cheers,

barter, I'm impressed with your blagging! I bet the quality of controls and interior bits is crazy. What's it like, more, more....

Roadrunner,
Very difficult to drive slowly (stalled a few times). On the way to the start of the parade he 'blipped' the throttle to show me what it could do. All I can say is "I WANT, no, NEED that engine".

Very cosy inside but not overly cramped. We had his chef's girlfriend in the other passenger seat. Luggage space is behind the doors accessed from the outside. Plenty of space for my camera bag.

Unfortunately we were in the parade so I can't tell you about the handling.
I've suggested to his gardener about a head-to-head when my Ultima is built sometime next year!

Trouble with experiencing cars like that is it's corrupting! Anything else after is going to be a let down. I've only seen one stuck in London traffic before (city rd). I bet it's mind bending on a clear road. (Obviously)

Actually, he 'bent it' on a clear road the first day he had it (both ends). Took him a while to get use to the power.

Insurance must be 20k after that hiccup, not that it would matter of course. I can't remember if it came with switchable traction or not. Might be a handy option with 640 ponies though. I bet onlookers were creaming themselves.

If the way it happened is anything to go by then there is no traction control.
Yes, the onlookers (mostly from our local village) certainly enjoyed seeing it almost as much as I did waving to them.
The owner flew in from America the day before especially to drive it in the parade. Left the country the next day. One of the nicest self made multi-multi millionaires I've met.

Did you offer to keep it ticking over and lubricated whilst he's away?

Yep. Offered my services several times. So far declined. Shame.

Personally, I'd offer to keep a few millions of that money ticking over for him. Worth a try?

Pity the cars were only glimpsed from long shots, whilst a lorry-load of celebs got many minutes of close-ups.

I groaned when the commentator identified a Jaguar XK8 as 'an E-type'. After some time a colleague corrected him with 'No, it's one of the new ones...' What is the world coming to? At least I saw the XK180 (one of only two ever made I think) in the front.
