So I finally went out and bought a fastish car...

Having moved up from a clio, a t4 van, and currently a 2001 jeep cherokee where i live in South Africa- this thing is in a different league! Its not only the fastest thing I have driven but also surprisingly economical.

Its been emapped to around 270BHP, its a 2007 with a manual gearbox and all the extras (iDrive, phone connection etc), and even came with a set of full winter tyres on BMW alloys. Its even already had the RFTs ditched. For its 70000 miles it is absolutely immaculate and a real credit to its former owner who has spared no cost in maintaining it.

Looking forward to many miles of happy motoring ahead!

Looks good, and those alloys are my favourite of all the wheels on the E90s, just think they suit the car perfectly.

Agreed, that is a good looking tourer. 270bhp?! That's insane. What's the torque figure look like? Nudging 400?

Thanks guys, I agree the wheels are the best on the E90 3-series.

The official torque figure pre-map was 379lb/ft (500nm) and the map has taken it to 440lb/ft (600nm) according to the website (emaps).

It certainly shifts....

The engine also sounds surprisingly good, its very smooth as a 6 cylinder. Im really glad I didn't do the sensible thing and get the 320d!

The owner before had all new iDrive software/maps installed and all the alloys/paint done and the remap and bought the winter tyres so its working tip-top. Travelled back home from it last night at just below 80 lepton average- getting 48 mpg on the motorway!

Very nice, subtle and quick. Must make overtaking a breeze.

I have only ever sat in one of these albeit a coupe on a forecourt and instantly thought (imo) the pedals were very offset to the right. Do you notice that at all?

i thought it slightly offset to the left! never found it to be an issue though.
