5,5 litres just doesnt seem alot to me

Have you the restrictors in the oil return feeds from the turbos?

scratchchin How certain are you that you have a TDS?

Hi James , if you take off the oil inlet onto the turbo the inlet hole is very small , probably 2 mm with the restrictor without its 5mm plus .

Whose TDS is it ? If the oil returns are too low or a too shallow angle then you will get oil backing up in the returns and then you will see lots of smoke !

It's a tux man sump. If the oil returns are too low or shallow how do I fix this. My mechanic said something about it backing up in the returns.

Oil returns are same as all std Tds so that is not the issue , what I don't understand is it smoke constantly as soon as you fill the oil level up !!!!

silly question alert!!!! where on the dipstick does the oil level lie when you put 5.5litres in?

Remember a lot of us run oil coolers etc and that will take 1litre of oil.... mine with Tuxmans sump takes 8.5litres, id expect yours to be the same regardless of the engine as it all sits in the sump lol.

it is possible you have a blocked breather hose thats causing oil to be sucked into the inlet manifold when its at correct level.... cant beleive its your turbo restrictrs, youd have to proper starve the engine of oil to stop the turbo smoking and that would be BAD.

Middle of 2 dots on dip stick. Apparently if put more in it goes over the breather pipes. So it's all actually ok. Just me worrying over nothing. It may have more than 5.5 litres in but def not 8-9

Fill it to the top mark on the dipstick which should be approx 8.5 litres, the pipes you mention l assume are the oil drain connections from the turbo's not breathers & the oil level in the sump should be above them.

What concerns me is to create smoke the oil has to be getting into the combustion chambers , how is it doing that ? The breather system is for the rocker cover and crank case it has no connection to the combustion chambers .

The turbo oil drain pipes also have no effect , unless the turbos are getting over filled with oil and the oil is being burnt in the turbo themselves either way I think you are right to be concerned 5.5 litres is not enough To register on the dipstick so quite how running the engine short of oil is a sensible is beyond me !!!!

I think there might be more than 5.5 litres in there as its in the right place on dip stick. I didn't put the oil in. I think Steve obes had a similar thing when his was done too.

Putting the smoking issue to one side for now..it should take 8.5 lires, 3 litres less and showing in the middle of dipstick does not make sense.

Like I said I think there was actully more oil in it than thought. As it has plenty of oil in it

ok..just go by the dipstick...if you put too much oil then oil pressure increases and it tries to find a way out, so it can enter the combustion chamber creatng smoke, although oil restrictors is an issue it would not be related to oil level.

check the breathers are clear and not blocked in any way

does the smoke go if you remove the oil filler cap ?
