Paris for a 2 night break - where to stay & eat?
Discussion
After being put off Euro Disney I'm now looking at Paris for a 2 night break in August over bank holiday, E/Star fares aren't bad at £168 return for both of us (we have vouchers to use against this as well) but I now need to find a nice, but not massively expensive central hotel that is modern, comfy and above all friendly. Our French language is appaling so somewhere they don't mind a bit of very bad pigeon French followed by English would be good.
Likewise a couple of nice restaurants - similar principles to above.

Hotel du Chat Noir is in a good location, with funky decor and really nice rooms for a decent price. Very close to the Moulin Rouge too which, whilst over-hyped and commercial, is an entertaining night out. Apart from the toe-curlingly Bernard Manning style comedian in residence the night we went.
Hi Tony. When Clare and I were last there, we stayed here http://www.hoteldesers.com/index.php which suited our needs (within walking distance of most of the sights on our must see list and near the restaurants I'd booked.
I can send you a few other suggestions if you want (and a range of choices for dining). Just let me know...

Stayed here a few years back. Based in Montmartre (arty/redlight) district of Paris, plenty of interesting restaurants and bars in the locality. Also plenty of sex shops!

In terms of restaurants, the cafe in which they filmed Amelie is just up the road:

In terms of restaurants (more central), I really enjoyed Brasserie Lipp

And the Refuge des Fondus in which they serve wine in baby bottles!
