Bridge of Allan car show - Paint damage
Discussion
Hi Folks,
My car was in main car park and got splattered by mud, which when removed latter in the afternoon has left what looks like a bad paint burn from a bird dropping in all the areas that were covered with mud.(a fair amount!)
Have cut paint back as far as I dare with 3M cutting compound and rotary buff and has not cleared it, I know of 2 others that have the same issue now as well.
Was a great show apart from this.
Anyone else found a similar issue if you were there?

Sometimes the marks can be too deep to safely remove. I detailed a black skyline and there were a couple of marks where birds lime (or what ever you want to call it) had eaten right through the clear and colour coats and was showing white underneath.
The paint on them is really soft though and I can't recall of another time where I've not been able to safely remove bird lime etchings from paintwork. Presuming you're talking about your TVR then the paintwork is pretty hard and it's strange if it's marked it so much it can't be removed. The hardness also means that it might require quite a bit of compounding to remove. Wet sanding isn't really suited to removing these types of marks IMO. It should polish out. Desipte the marks usually looking really bad there usually only a couple of microns deep.
This article is quite informative as to why it damages the paintwork http://www.autoglym.com/enGB/News-archivefull.asp?...
