As title suggests, in the market for a new compact to take on holiday with us, what is good out there at the moment? Coming from a Lumix with Leica lens, ideally want something that shoots well in low light as the old one does not do that too well in my opinion. Full HD video also a must as we have an 8 month old... Will probably mostly use on an Auto setting but some flexibility would be good, if possible.

Not looking to spend an absolute fortune, maybe a couple of hundred quid or so.

Cheers

I'll kick off with quite a regular favourite on here, Canon S95. Only downside is 720p recording but if you want to spend another £50 the Canon S100 does 1080 recording and has GPS tagging built in.

I've read good things about both of these cameras, and I've never owned a Canon before...

Canon make very fine cameras.

And I use Nikon.... and didn't mention photo copiers.

S95 is a great camera. Don't think twice. S100 better.
