If you are the owner of a brownish coloured noname Daewoo saloon that was travelling North bound on the A1 Western Bypass past the Metro centre, Gateshead, I'd like to thank you for nearly killing me, you, and your wife and kids who were in the car.

You absolute tosser, you dont deserve to have a licence. You hog the fast lane for 4 miles letting no-one past, then you decide to let me past, only to then drive straight back into the outside lane while I am DIRECTLY alongside you, nearly ramming me into the central reservation at 85mph!! If you are reading this, you are a twat, do you hear?

Congratulations to your wife who then decided to give me abuse once she could see I wasnt going to follow you home: you are really brave. I dont condone hitting anybody, but should you ever cross my path again, you will receive a free punch in the mouth for your troubles.

Rant over.

At times like that it's handy to have a Glock 9mm in the glovebox.

I prefer the baseball bat myself, it's the look of oh fcuk in their face when they realise you are not only upset but serious too!

I so wish I was not joking, I would sooooo love to on occasions smash the living daylights out of some twat that deserves it.

ultimapaul, off topic here, how are you finding the car? How long did it take to build?

Roadrunner - Bloody fantastic, I've done nearly 1500 miles now so it is fully run in and very, very quick! The attention can get to you a bit, but at least it is all possitive.
I just wish the people who asked what it is would not have such blank looks when you reply 'An Ultima!'

The build took 13 months and about 400 hours. I had the factory fit the body for me in order to give it the best finish. Well worth the cost!

I would never get that finished! Too busy in the week and I spend half my weekends asleep. Well done! I enquired how much for a complete car from the factory before - 75k. Ouch. Does it feel any quicker than a cerbera for all the effort and money?

£75k would be for a full spec factory finished car! Mine set me back about £40k for a car of similar spec. Engine aside, which I built myself, mine has all the goodies a factory car would have.
As for the performance, with the 425+bhp I have (which is fairly modest) I would hope for 0-100 in about 8 seconds and top speed of about 185 with current gearing. I'm not sure what the current TVR's are capable of but on performance/pound the Ultima takes some beating. It stops & goes round corners pretty well too.
Time & effort! - I found it a labour of love, the only downside is finding another project to replace it with. No luck so far with nothing I've seen coming in the foreseeable future. So I'll just have to enjoy the car till something catches my eye and can match the Ultima for quality & ease of build. It may be a long wait!

8 secs sounds impressive! Thats about 2 secs quicker than 911's / tivs etc - I think.

I imagine the whole car vibrates and judders with that v8 and your hard suspension. Similar to other race orientated cars I've been in I guess.

If those xtr2 type cars had a little roof that might be an option. Looks like they're unbeatable on the track. Not too costly either.

They are an amazing car, I didn't notice any rattles in my test drive mind you I didn't hear a great deal with the V8 next to my ear Performance is absolutely stunning.

Every kit car / race car style car I've been in seems to rattle a fair bit. Mostly it's the fibreglass body but also the inside bits too. I guess you won't notice much when accelerating like the millenium falcon!

I had a look at the XTR2 at the Stoneleigh show. It had most of what I wanted and could be made street legal, a must in my oppinion. It was let down by the quality of some of the components. The Westfield rep told me the chassis comes complete with ali panneling already fitted. Which on the show car & rolling chassis on view was IMOA of sub standard. I know I could do a far neater job. When I enquired if this could be a delete option I was told they had no templates so I would have to start from scratch!!! I think not!!!

There are a few rattles, as you say they tend to stem from the body. Being unstressed it just sits there. I reakon a day in the garage going round the car would eliminate most rattles & squeeks. It is on the list of things to do!!!

Doesn't sound too helpful for you! Being lazy I'd order a complete one. Plus I'm not a mechanic. Best to be safe I reckon, not quite the same as the 1/10 scale touring car kit I made!

Mechanics aside, could you ever live with the GTR daily? Or would you run out of headache pills?

Rather than completely highjack this thread, I'll answer your question in the Ultima section where someone kindly highlighted my car!!!!

See you there.
