For having a 'fault' accident with a driver-less moving car?

Put into neutral, handbrake on and get out to open large heavy wooden gates (that open inwards). Push the door shut as I walk forwards and suddenly realise the car is overtaking me, on its own!

Grab door handle, but it's already locked itself as it moved away and watch as it smoothly (but noisily) remove the gate from it's hinges, while the metal fittings scrape down both sides and my newly refurbished alloys mad

Luckily, it's a lovely sunny day and I had all the windows open, so managed to dive through the driver's window head-first and slam the lever into Park!!!

All that torque is awesome when you need it, but in first gear, on 'choke', downhill, the handbrake had no chance!

Grrrrrrrr

That's not good.

Hope the neighbours didn't see it.

Would have been a lot more serious if the window had been shut - I was leaving the house and only just stopped it before it drove out of a blind entrance, straight across a fairly busy road frown

ha ha - very funny!

But, it seems the transmission cables are FUBARed - so it was not my fault... Something has gone amiss, as it will now not properly engage any gear and it won't start in Park either.

Damage is quite severe - can't photograph it as it was collected the next day and is awaiting insurance assessment (but spoke to assessor and it looks like most of the car needs re-painting! Only a few weeks after it returned from the second attempt at a body repair from an old lady's parking misjudgement!
