Anyone on here road-cycle in Wiltshire?

I do and mostly cycle around Calne, Chippenham, Marlborough, Clyffe Pypard, etc. Would love someone to whizz around with.

I am not a bloomin' pro so don't expect 20+mph averages up the north face of the Eiger...

not that local, I sometimes end up around Calne and Marlborough but from the east side of Bristol its a bit of an epic, castle combe circuit is open on tuesday evenings if you fancy it?

are you doing the AMR Bristol/Bath to London in August?

Well after being left in the back garden for two years I've just unseized the old Raleigh and put a patch on one of the tubes. I've managed from our place round to Bremhill and back which is a couple of miles! You never know I might take it out again...

If you spot a Herald, a Hurricane, a Subaru pick up and an Austin hot rod on your travels feel free to say "Hi".

Chippenham wheelers and Swindon road club have 100's of members and both organise a variety of rides at a variety of paces

I used to live near Marlborough so know the area well, but have since moved across the border into Oxon. I still get up that way on the bike occasionally but that would be the outer edge of a loop.

As above, Chippenham Wheelers are probably your best bet for local rides. They are a friendly bunch too

Don't worry. I will be buying something MTBish once I have started to build a little pocket money. Got a grown-up job now so shouldn't be too long. Used to like Roundway and Pewsey vale for MTB

Me missus lives in Bremhill so am round there a lot. What colour is the herald?

Not tried a cycle club yet as I don't know if I am fast enough up hills - get a lot of cramp too. However I should really look into it...

Clubs have different groups that go out, normally ranging from old boys who do about 12/13mph, to the fast guys who do 20+mph.

Yeah, I agree
I can only vouch for Swindon Road Club, as I've been a member for a fair few years, but they have a real variety of rides and riders from 14yr old kids with flat pedals / trainers averaging 10-13mph, right up to the faster Tuesday night chaingang rides in which the fastest group can include Cat1 and Premier calender riders averaging anything up to around 26-27 depending on course.
I would imagine Chippenham Wheelers are very similar. I know a couple of guys from there, and I believe they're a good bunch
