Not the best start to Noble ownership....

I have had my car since last December and should have greeted you all a lot earlier but to be honest, I have hardly used my Noble due to the time of year I bought it. Alas now spring is here, its game on.

After a few months of pondering I ended up chopping my much loved supercharged Exige in for a fairly low mileage M12 GTO3r. I bought the car from up in the outskirts of . The journey back home wasn't the best.
Unfortunately due to bad weather, the test drive I did, didn't allow me to really drive the car. On the journey home back to London, once the rain had gone, I went to sink the accelerator, the car completely misfired and wasn't allowing me to put the power down. O dear indeed.
I immediately phoned the sales guy who told me to bring the car back but at this point I was half way to London. I got the car to Mole Valley as soon as I could.
After they had gone through it to work out the problem, there was a a good few things wrong and they had to keep the Noble for a couple of weeks. In the end the bill was just under £2,500

New front and rear manifolds.
Re-set the plug gaps and clean coil packs.
Weld the rear turbo cat pipe.
Replace four way fuse board.
Sort out the heater temperature switch.
Remove passenger door panel so I can use the wing mirror.
Re-map the ecu.
New turbo basket and Flange.
Head unit wasn't working, now fixed.

Now the sales manager at had told me they had gone over the car with a fine tooth comb. They obviously didn't. Wrong plug gaps in a Noble??? they couldn't have driven the car!! They did however pay Mole valley for the bill. They didn't want to, at first they said they'd pay half...I then brought up the sales agreement act and threatened them with legal proceedings.

I have had to pay for other things too, knocking noise meant more welding. New shoes for the handbrake. Another tidy bill for around £600 that didn't pay and called my bluff on getting a lawyer, so I had to.

I wouldn't deal with sports cars ever again. I would worn people before they buy from there to really think again, Or expect a few trips back there. Maybe my dealings was a one off but you certainly don't expect that within two weeks of owner ship.

Hats off the Mole Valley who have assisted me fantastically with the whole business.

There is one more thing I would love sum advice on. The fuel consumption is shocking. I reckon I'm getting around 14mpg's and that's without giving it the beans. I have just changed plugs, I'm using NGKS'. Hasn't seem to have done anything. It has just passed its MOT test so guessing the lambda is ok to have passed the emissions test. Fuel sensor??

Everything aside the car is nearly back to being normal and I absolutely love the thing. Its an utter joy. The rough start to ownership hasn't dampened or made me regret buying it. (Could have done without it.) I knew that buying a Noble there would be a few niggles to sort out and that they are expensive to work on.

My car was supplied and serviced by by the previous owner, I fixed a load of small issues after I bought it, stuff that should have been taken care of by their servicing. I've looked after it since then, especially as the last service by them was nearly four figures

Anyway, enjoy it now it's all sorted! It'll be the best purchase you've ever made!

Hi, funny how they are more helpful when they are getting paid for service than trying to maintain margin on sales, your saviours are not innocent in that respect either.

Re consumption are you doing short journeys as I reckon that destroys mpg, if you haven't, try taking a day to run at least a tank full through in one go and see what you get. You are never going to get brilliant figures but I reckon you're only 10-20% down on what your Exige would have got (I foll0wed the same path) so for the power difference ain't bad.

Oh yes it is! But we don't buy these things for fuel consumption. The small tank coupled with the sometimes random fuel gauge can make it seem like you are in the petrol station every day.
I can easily do a tank and a half in one evening of driving....lots of right foot though!

Glad you got everything sorted. I would suggest taking your car to Jetstream for servicing etc. you will not meet anyone as knowledgable as Dave and Matt. I think most people on here would agree!

As for mods. Get the fuel pump wiring and exhaust sorted first if not done already

Yes Jetstream, I have tried to find them online but no joy. I have heard a rumor they don't advertise and they are almost a secret club for the Noble population. I bit like being a mason

I think Nobles NEED to be taken to select experts. cover to many sports cars. Bad a company that big just carry on like a 'used car garage' get them in and churn them out kinda thing.

Mole Valley are my nearest specialist. I can understand what you are saying though.

I have done a few long journeys in the car. I have taken it to work a couple of times. That journey is just over 30miles. I have worked out it costs me £25 and that is mooching along at 70-80 (hard to do. I have been told I should be getting at least 20mpg

I agree, you don't buy a Noble for good fuel consumption. As we get shafted by the government on fuel, I'd like to give them as little as possible tho

I do want to use Jetstream, just cant find them online....??

I have heard about the fuel pump mod.A must do. The one thing that is a must have for me is the exhaust. I have been reading a lot of threads on here regarding exhausts. Yet again it is proving hard to find them online. Hayward + Scott wont make just one and the Rousch option is apparently very loud. An option I need to do more research on me thinks.

Wow that is a low mileage one. I found its hard to find the perfect Noble as they are so rare.

They are some tasty upgrades. I definitely want to start making them myself.

One that I have been told is pretty simple that is bothering me is the heat coming into the car. I would like to get this 'tunnel cooling' mod done as I don't really want to have the a/c on all the time.

How is the exhaust? heard the Roush is quite a loud option,?to loud for track?

Sorry I don't know what area you are in but where have you taken your Noble for these mods?

I'm only small fry but bought mine in January after owning a new 3R in 2003. I found a 12000 mile 2004 car. Runs like a dream and no issues so far.

Congratulations on the Noble, though sorry you had so many issues to sort.

Jetstream don't have a website; they are located at Bruntingthorpe near Lutterworth (LE17 5QS) and you can contact Matt on 07850 003718.

I would advise the fuel pump wiring mod as a priority. Dave Pike at BCS Exhausts (formerly Urban, contact on 01744 610243) makes a great exhaust, and will also do your fuel pump wiring. Jetstream can provide an exhaust but I have no experience of it - gets good reports on here though.

Your fuel consumption does sound high - I get low 20s mpg on an A road and motorway 45 mile commute, considerably less when driving enthusiastically!

Welcome Ant! Your fuel consumption figs are rubbish and you should investigate why. Motorway journeys I get 28mpg, general A&B roads 23mpg and on track emmm..about 10mpg. Thats a 7 yr old 56000mi heavily tracked, but very pampered M400. Just goes to show that engines like to be driven and not just looked at ;-)

Welcome aboard! I'd suggest that if you're going to do a few mods to your car, do them in one go and then speak to someone called Yellowshed on here. He'll map out whatever is your consumption issue as well as making full advantage of what you've changed.
