It was a Fing big crash......

I spoke to Nigel Webb (Owner of the Johnny Herbert D Type) in the Village on Sunday night, apparently the guy had a major crash and was rushed to hospital. He suffered 2nd degree burns to his face and arms along with smashing both shoulders and his right arm to bits which resulted in an 8 hour operation on Saturday evening. Apparently he should be OK though.

I also found out this morning, a friend was watching out at the second chicane and saw the whole thing happen. I had heard it was at Tetre Rouge but in fact it happened on the approach to the second chicane. The C Type was following an Allard at full chat and the Allard's bonnet flew off, hitting the C Type and putting it in to a spin. The C Type proceeded to take out the armco along with 5 posts and rolled to a stop upside down. It then caught fire and the guy was cut out of the remains which was described to me this morning as the worst accident this guy had ever seen.

I think if the guy survives and avoids the flatline he will be considered a very lucky man and I am sure everyone on here will want to wish him well......

It's a testiment to the event and other such events like Goodwood Revival the risks these guys take and how hard they drive these priceless cars, long may it continue.....

I doubt it since the Classic Le Mans is run on the Bugatti circuit not the full Circuit de le Sarthe.

Then why does the track map only show the Bugatti circuit?

I think that you will find in the corner of that map the picture of the full circuit. The map you are looking at identifies all the different parking areas for the classic cars, the paddock areas, the shopping areas etc.

The event was awesome and the full circuit is a pleasure to drive, as 800 other classic owners discovered when they opened up the circuit on Saturday afternoon.
