Regular readers would know I went steel pretty much immediately I bought the GT2 so I could put on the ceramics when I sold.

That was 5 years ago and by now It's clear I'm not selling so this weekend I put an as new set back on that'd I'd collected a few months back.

The finesse of the steering is markedly improved and even though new pads, the pedal is already better. They're quieter too though still gentleish as new.

Basically that approx 10kg saving per wheel really is noticable.

Add to this the work being done as I write this by Chris at Centre Gravity and I'm looking forward to a brand new GT2 next weekend smile

Off the top of my head it's 18 vs 8.

I'll weigh them tomorrow for sure.

I think it's more like 40lbs all together. So about 5kg per wheel. + the front rotors are larger.

Totally agree. I have them on my 7.1 GT3 and they were awesome last weekend during a road trip to and over the Alpine passes, in particular the Fluela Pass in Switzerland with its hairpins and switchbacks. They were also pretty handy in slowing down on the high speed autobahn runs (especially from my best v-max of 192mph) :-)

Ps on the 997s the weight saving is 5kgs per wheel despite the larger rotors (380mm vs 350mm).

I'm probably overegging the weight saving but i've gone from same size steels as fitted genuine to original gt2 in 2001.

Whatever it is I guess the rotating inertia is biggest improvement followed by unsprung mass.

I'm genuinely excited about picking it up from CG next weekend smile

Weight saving on the 996 GT2 is 16.6kg overall for PCCBs ie just over 4kg per corner.

I can email you the .pdf of the actual Porsche Press announcement for the Mk1 GT2 996 if you like.

calipers are bigger and weigh more

Rotational mass for turn is a bigger saving.

I have always had the yellow calipers on but used steels that were original fitment for very early GT2s

I'll definitely weigh old and new tonight but as said the rotational inertia is king here.
