Anybody done it at the weekend?

Trails dry? As I suspect so and will be rick hard by Friday...

Any tips from the acknowledged PH "experts"

Going with some full-on nutters so expect to be put in place/broken by Sunday!

I did a couple of days at C-Y-B and did most of the trails. Favourites were MBR and Tarw. It's very rocky (quite loose in places) and I coped OK on a Giant Anthem X2 (100mm travel each end) and 2.25inch tyres.

If you get bored there, try the Marin Trail at Betty's Co-ed which I thought was as good as most of the C-Y-B trails.

Cli-MachX was OK overall (average start but a great finish).

the beast of brenin is well worth the miles. some of teh best singletrack in the UK and there are one or two good sections on a loop that you can repeat and ridwe twice without adding too many miles. www.mbwales.com for maps and things.

I tackled The Beast last year on a hardtail, it wasn't too bad but it is pretty rough and rocky in places. If you do The Beast then try and take the shortcut after the halfway house/cafe, it cuts out miles of fairly dull fireroads.

I remember doing C-Y-B in the early 90's with a rigid Marin. It made me appreciate the need for suspension!

Was there 2 weeks ago. Mbr was superb, but most trails (excluding tawr) overlap an awful lot. You will be fine on a hardtail, just have to take the last run a little slowly, beginning of the end I think it's called!

Just back... weather simply unbelievable - borderline too hot. Never thought I'd be saying that about Wales. Conditions were great on the tracks and the Hardtail survived - was damn rough in places and my legs know that they've been doing OT. Highly recommended place tho'. Friendly locals happy who seemed happy to pass on some trail knowledge and tyre pressure tips

There was a serious surfeit of tech over talent mind. Never seen so many 3K+ bikes in one place. Some folk just need to learn how to ride them... ;-)
