Use 944 engine parts to rpair 968 engine?

Bottom end of my 968 engine is shrapnel. How similar are 944 S2 engines? Could I use block, crank, pistons etc? Looks like the difference lies in the head an intake for the most part?

AFAIK S2 has a heavier crank and rods, and different pistons plus no oil squirters. Wouldn't suprise me if it's been done before though. Is any of your 968 bottom end salvageable ?.

Crank, block and rods should be useable but not sure on the pistons....maybe yours are salvageable? The head should bolt up no probs....
