I would email Hartech directly but where iam sometimes doesnt allow me to use emails and today is one of them.
I know i read somewhere on Pistonheads there was a rumour that Hartech would be opening up shop down South?
Is this true and when?
Hoping that Baz or someone would come on and confirm.
Cheers in advance.

Blimey, I bet your glad you don't have to be over there.

I have a feeling you just wouldn't get the whole military thing.

I don't think they have any plans but this is a small country and it's not hard to move cars around for a sensible cost. I had a Merc CL420 delivered 250 miles from Suffolk for £130 recently (would have been £80 fuel cost one-way if I'd gone myself, plus flight, taxi etc).

It depends what you're looking for - I use Sports & Classic for various jobs on various makes of car because they're only a mile away (as well as being good of course!), but if I had a big, specialised job I'd look further afield as I don't see the distance as an issue in order to get the right person to do a job.

Sometimes it is better to say nothing at all. You tried to make your point, the OP quite rightly smoked you yet you still didn’t give up.

The world does not revolve around your opinion and what you deem acceptable so please do not try and force it on the rest of us.

If you feel justified in your unofficial policing of the Porsche forum then request to become a mod and let the powers that be make the decision.

Otherwise, like the chap said earlier, shut the f**k up.

We do seem blessed with Pork specialists in the area with Mike & Baz. Just a shame that since my move to the northwest the Pork has had to go grumpy

Cheers for those sticking up for me, i would of replied earlier to Khushys posting but the Internet went down here.
Yes, i could spend 20.25 secs ringing Baz up asking the question but if i was going to speak personally i would probably want to spend more time asking questions, as well as him to me. So 20secs is a bit rude in my eyes.
Also, to justify (not that i have to)using this means, we have a thing out here which i wont name its proper title that shuts down all contact with the outside world. This happens when a soldier is injured or worse killed. This stops mates of the person involved ringing up UK telling relatives or friends the bad news. Although you all back in UK hear about the deaths, the injuries im afraid dont make the news. Without saying too much, the phone lines and internet get swtiched off a lot!!

Going back to the original post i put up at stupid 0'clock in the morning, UK time...i would still use Hartech even though they are miles away from my hometown outside Bournemouth. But as you can see being on the coast does make the trip up to Hartech a bit of a long one, but then doing it in a Porsche would make it more pleasureable!

Khushy in misjudging post shocker wink

Petop, PSR are a fair bit closer to you (Bishop's Stortford is by Stansted airport for those that don't know) - might be worth bearing them in mind as they're very good and growing from strength to strength by the sounds of things.

All of that said, I'd still counsel in favour of an OPC warranty, particularly given your location down on the coast. You could get the car trailered around the country, but for the sake of convenience and peace of mind I think the warranty makes a lot of sense - something to ponder when you're next laying in a ditch being shot at I suppose.

Stay safe!

If the concern is being able to get the engine fixed by Hartech if it goes pop, then a good local indy should be able to take it out & ship it to Hartech, and then put a nice shiny Hartech-ised engine back in again.

If it's wanting to have a reliable non-OPC to take the car to then there should be a number of good indy's nearer to Bournemouth than Hartech, others can probably recommend some.

If it's wanting the Hartech service plan then I'm not sure what the options are, as I'm in the 'no warranty plan' school of thought.

If it's to persuade her indoors that "they are the only place to go to, and yes it's a long drive but what other option do I have" then it's the only place to go to... biggrin

Ive had my fingers burnt before with Warranties. And also stupidly not getting a car inspected then suffering its hidden history which resulted in a hefty bill. So having been absorbed into the Porsche owning way of life before even getting the car with their foibles etc, im trying to make my ownership a bullet proof (no pun intended!) as possible. Im happy about where to buy the car and have been in touch with the dealer already. But long term i want to make it as pain free as possible.
