As usual looking over 911 Virgin and saw this...

which yes has high mileage but buying on condition, i reckon this would be good bet, even at the £16k retail price.
Recent clutch etc and good service provenance. Considering its mileage the interior looks pretty pristine.

That looks like quite a cheeky buy if the mechanicals hold up and if I thought I could live with the headlights I'd be booking a day off work to go look at it!
Thought you wanted a tip though?
My biggest concern is that two of my colleagues have recently purchased a 996 C2, this would make 3 (albeit in C4S guise) and therefore copying/jumping on the bandwagon, and another has a 987.1 Boxster! Not that you can ever have too many Porsches in one car park!

I do want a Tip....well thats this weeks thinking! But i would rather spend a little more with less mileage. I know it should be bought on condition, but i would keep looking down at the odometer thinking thats a lot of miles.Thought you wanted a tip though?

But if you bought it, in my eyes you have trumped them with the C4S!
That looks like value. It looks as good as any other 911v cars (as in - immaculate). The mileage is just a state of mind. I am a victim of mileage-phobia myself, but the reality is that it is likely that the car has done less engine hours than some 80k miles city-only car, with all the subsequent wear and tear difference.
At the bug price, it looks a great buy.

When I was looking at cars last year, the premium for a C4S over a C2/C4 seemed excessive, I guess the prices are seeing a sharp correction now that 997s are reaching the low-£20k bracket that the C4S was previously clinging onto.
My older, lower spec C2 was only just cheaper than the bug price on the C4S here. I'd best not think too much about what my car is worth now

I am interested in this, but the mileage worries me. Is this really a good buy, or is the engine going to eat itself?
It does interest me that they have a similar car with half the mileage for £8k more.
I am mainly looking for a black C2, but this is very tempting.
buy it & put it on hartech plan. worry free motoring. It does interest me that they have a similar car with half the mileage for £8k more.

I dont think 911V would risk their reputation for a couple off grand selling a car they thought would go bang.
This message will be followed by a host of scaremongers saying all 996 / 997 engines are worthless.

Wasn't Henry saying that they do an engine and gearbox warranty for £400!!It does interest me that they have a similar car with half the mileage for £8k more.

That £8k will more than pay for a decent engine rebuild should the worst happen. It does interest me that they have a similar car with half the mileage for £8k more.

Too far away for Hartech, but their reputation is why I am seriously considering it.I dont think 911V would risk their reputation for a couple off grand selling a car they thought would go bang.
I will have to check if the £400 warranty is available on the bug price or just retail.

Worth a punt - but I'd be paying bug and taking my chances. Unfortunately I'm not looking at the minute but that car will sell pronto.
Agree, buy it, it has good history and not a million owners. I'd be on the phone also if I was in the market. Well worth a visit to have a look at least.Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
