hi all
am thinking of buying a Opel GT
anyone know about these, have been told they going up in value and very rare in the UK
but what are they like to live with?
good buy or not?
hoping to buy and enjoy for the summer and then maybe move on, but do they sell well?

I'm an Opel fan, but never driven one of these. Think they have the same 1.9 CIH engine in from the A and early B series Manta's. They were really made for the American market, hence why more rare over here.
I was at the NEC in November last year with 2 Ferrari owners, both fell in love with the Opel GT's and sat in them and said they liked them as a place to be. But still none of us has driven one, so can't answer what they feel like on the road. Have you tried the Opel Manta Owners Club, sign up to the forum for free and fire in a question, someone may have owned or driven one.

Very sweet looking car with a cracking interior but the driving is a let down - it really deserved a far nicer engine than the 1.9 which is too much of an old boat anchor. Only l.h.d. available although a few specialist conversions were done. Like most cars of their era they suffer from rust and can be horribly expensive to put right if it's taken a hold(relative to their value). Sort of cult following on the continent which may take off over here - ensures that along with the various Opel parts bin approach lots of stuff is still available, tho' I wouldn't like to bet on trim and panels...
Very very pretty cars. Used to see one in the Scottish Borders a lot, about 25 years ago which I loved. But yes, the engine is pretty wheezy apparently and the headlamps are hydraulic and prone to sticking. This one was a rhd version, but I do recall they were imported in from Germany.
