Rose joints - enlightenment

I've read recently about rose jointed suspension, being something that was ruled out for a couple of road cars (Tuscan R and some mad MG).

Wot are rose joints, anyone?

"Rose-joint" is a trade mark, and misuse is usually strongly attacked by the trademark owners. The mechanism is a spherical ball joint.
