Strange noise inside cabin 996 GT3

Hi Guys,

Looking for some help here on something that is hard to describe. I've noticed a very odd noise inside the car, short bursts, random, and doesn't happen that often. Often when flat out on track. Inside the car, sounds like it is coming from the passenger side. At first I thought it sounded like the horn was setting off but it is not that. Mike Wilds heard it and suggested it sounded like a relay? Something electric perhaps. It may triggeer more when its wet - but that could just be only when I have noticed it. It tends to happen at high speed but again that could be just by chance.

Car drives fine, I usually have my helmet on when it happens so it makes it harder to pinpoint.

Plastic trim down the outside of the windscreen loose? It happens a fair bit, is more likely to show up at speed and can sound horn-ish.

Ditto, can also happen if you've added a sun strip. When it next happens squirt your windscreen fluid, the water stops it if it is this.

I had a similar issue on my 996 GT3 and it turned out to be the plastic cover over the battery and the two sections either side of it were not clipped in properly and at speed were making a loud random resonating sound/ buzzing sound that came into the cabin. Took me ages to figure it out but could be a possibility?

Was your wife/gf sat in the passenger seat by any chance?
