Anyone recently flew out/into T5 and what are the actually queing problems?

Flying out in a couple of weeks and wonder if I need to get their much earlier or is it just inbound problems?

Cheers

I flew in & out of it last week and had no problems whatsoever (especiall if you have a UK passport). I literrally went straight through both times with no queues at all

Even my colleague who is on a Kiwi passport didn't have to wait too long (circa 15 mins)

We flew out at 6:30pm on a Monday night and back in at 6am on a Monday morning. Obviously time of flight might have an impact.

My experience is that the it is usual Daily Mail bks

Outbound is not an issue, you don't go through official border control, just a passport check at the gate before boarding.

Return is hit and miss. 2 weeks ago, came back from Toronto, and I was queuing for just over 2 hours, though it WAS Monday morning at 7am which is absolutely peak. Came home from LA yesterday afternoon, was through in less than 5 minutes. I suspect, if you're returning at a peak hour, (business rush hours), then prepare for a long wait. Late evenings, or mid-afternoon, shouldn't be an issue.

Been through T5 a few times, although these days I'm rarely doing short haul, or business stuff.

Flew out on the first flight of the morning to Geneva at 6.30am, the biggest line was the queue for Starbucks! Other than that straight through.

My return flight the same day landed around 9.30pm from memory. Touchdown 9.30pm, I was in the pod on the way to the carpark by 9.40, and in the car driving back by 9.50!

Depends greatly on the times you hit it, it would seem.
