Hi,

My other half has had an ISA for many years, with several year's full contributions.

Her old ISA's Halifax interest rate had reached the end of its bonus period, so she applied online for a Santander cash ISA that accepted transfers in.
She attempted to make the transfer online from Halifax, but heard nothing for 2/3 weeks. Santander also did not receive any funds.

It has taken several days and many inquiries to find out where her money is.
Now it turns out, that Santander wanted a separate form to carry out the ISA-ISA transfer, which she duly completed and posted. However checking today, Halifax say this is now too late and instead have chosen to reject the transfer "due to the amount being more than the annual limit", withdrawn all her funds from the Halifax cash ISA, and informed her a cheque is "probably in the post".

She's now screwed, because Santander can now only accept this year's contribution, and she will be missing out on the tax free interest on the majority of the savings.

The available manager at the Halifax call centre did not want to assist.

Is there any way around this clerical issue that could get the full balance into her new Santander cash ISA?

Help appreciated!

Hi

Without knowing the minutae of the case, i can say that in my experience, as long as the cheque has not been cashed they should be able to reinstate the ISAs.

Good luck.

Thanks - no cheque has even been received yet so hopefully it can all be reversed. Just the matter of the 2-3 weeks of interest lost to argue over as well.
