Fork Arm; replacement unit or Powerflex bushes
Discussion
Hi Guys,
would welcome thoughts by anyone who has had this same scenario. In the current Total 911, the "Living the Legend" contributors tell of their experiences and this month, one has to replace the fork arms. He sourced OEM spec TRW ones from GSF but I was wondering that, if the main cause of failure is the rubber bushes, then is it worthwhile upgrading to urethane bushes from someone like Powerflex? I can also see that there are other options from the likes of RSS but that is a completely different financial outlay. So has anyone used Powerflex and what was there experience like in terms of ease of replacement and improvement, if any?

I had them fitted to the front of my 993 and it feels great now (was rather wandery before) and I'd recommend them. However, it's difficult to get a back to back comparison from anyone, as (like me) it's usually worn originals being replaced due to being, err, worn. My geo was done at the same time and the car felt great (did a few laps round Oulton too) but I've no idea how it would have been with standard rubber new bushes.

Hi, thanks for the reply, was it the whole suspension or just the fork arms you replaced them on? Doing rough calculations on the back of the fag packet after a couple of rums, the cost to replace the fork arm bushes only is about the same as one replacement unit from GSF.
It was front wishbone bushes, front and rear (they are separate parts) I could have just done the fronts as it was those that were worn but did both. I don't think they did the same bushes for the rear suspension.sm34uk said:
