Which wine?

Happy Friday All,

I have some white Stilton with apricot pieces in it, and I was wondering what would be the best wine to go with it?

The shop I'm going to doesn't have an awful lot of choice; shall I go with red or white?

See if the shop has a sweet dessert wine - can range from white to amber in colour. It would contrast pleasantly with the tanginess of the cheese and depending on the wine, enhance the apricot.

Alternatively a good whisky goes very well with cheese. Better than red wine - at least for me.

Thanks, I ended up getting a red, after my next trip to the farmer's market I'll buy some dessert wine.

You might want to try a Muscat

White Muscat for me. Or the Orange Muscat & Flora, that's always a winner.

Montbazillac for me, since it has nice 'tang' underneath the sweetness.

Not particularly easy to find in the UK - wine merchants only.

I would go for a Spätlese Riesling, but if you don't like sweet wine try Chenin Blanc.
South Africa produces good quality Chenin Blanc.

That 'red' wine I bought, it turned out to be white. I blame the dust on it!
