Pentax K Mount to EOS body?

So it turns out my father-in-law has an old Cosina C1 knocking around, with a couple of lenses. One of which is a very interesting-looking macro chappy.
A little googlism returns the fact that the Cosina uses Pentax K Mount lenses.
If I buy something like this adapter, is it likely to be worth pursuing?
More seriously, do I risk any damage to the EOS body by playing with such things?

Give it a go, you might be pleasantly surprised. I use Pentax M42 and Canon FD lenses on my Canon 450D with excellent results.

One word of caution. "Some" older manual lenses can cause damage to the mirror on the Canon 5D MK11.

You will be fine with the 550D. I raised the caution because I didn't know what EOS camera you had.Take a look at the link below and you will find lots of info about using manual lenses on EOS cameras. There other forums for manual lenses, but the one in the link is a dedicated Canon forum.

When you buy the adaptor it's worth looking out for the ones that incorporate a corrective lens, else you might find you can't set the focus to infinity.
Might also be worth doing some research on the lenses themselves before getting too excited; Cosina was something of a budget brand so it could be trhat the lenses are a pretty ordinary make (e.g. Hanimex), in which case they might still be fun to play with but not provide the best quality results. On the other hand, the lenses could be cracking quality - my father used Pentax lenses on a Praktica body on the basis that the lenses determined the image quality whereas the body only needed to be lightproof and provide a halfway accurate shutter.

I'd say you're right not to have great expectations; that probably wasn't a fantastic lens even when new, but for the sake of a few quid on adaptor ring you can still have fun trying it out.
If you fancy experimenting with proper macro, spend another tenner or so on some k mount extension tubes from ebay. They'll probably work better with the shorter zoom, but you'll be amazed what you can do with them.
