been around since the mid-eighties, American brand, now made in the far east like everything else but still very well respected. Nick Craig rode Scott for years and if its good enough for him....its good enough for us, and Cav/HTC-Highroad used Scott for the last few years too....

the scale 60 doesnt scream great value for money to me but its probably only the same as the competition. the forks are nice and its set up quite race/xc orientated geo wise but the deore stuff and the wheels arent what i would expect on a ht bike costing over a grand (but then its a while since i bought an off the peg bike!)

Have classicly modern and beautiful geometry IMO. Also very keen on weight saving, but are normally priced at the upper end of each sector...

Leisure Lakes have it for £999 in all sizes which in my opinion, makes it an attractive proposition. Weight is 26.4lbs which isnt bad either. To be honest, you can wander round bike shops for weeks looking at alternatives but for under a grand you arent really going to get much better.

I've got one of their hybrids, have abused it and neglected it alternately and it's never broken.

frames are better than trek, more on a par with cannondale really.

their road stuff is lovely and I rode a spark 30 recently on a demo day and it was excellent.

Really pleased with my Scott S30 road bike, weld and build quality appear very good and comfort level suits me unlike a Trek I test rode

I've got 2 Scotts;
- CR1 for the road
- Genius 20 for off road

Both are extremely well made and imo a good fit for me which is the most important thing.

Not sure if it's the same on the Genius but the difference between the Genius 50, 40, 30, 20 and 10 is the components!

So you're actually getting a good frame to start with and can upgrade the rest if you want/need to.

Notwithstanding the fact it was probably manufactured in Taiwan, all the literature which came with my Scott suggests it is a Swiss brand now.

I had an early scott Al framed bike back in the biopace days and it was great.
Super strong - i destroyed multiple head & bottom brackets hooning about. Its still going with the guy i gave it too!
I'd happily have another one.

The HQ is in Switzerland, and a lot of the carbon is made there...the rest is Taiwanese, obviously, but obviously built to scott's specifications...not all Taiwanese frames are made equal!
