Are there any specific problems with this variant? I understand that most of them are after market conversions. I really do prefer the look of this version over the standard 911, but I'd like to know if it's likely to be a problem child before taking it any further.

Not a lot to go wrong with the conversion apart from the headlights sticking down or up - I imagine it is the same set up as a 944 assembly, with a rod running between them to prevent 'blinking'.

I think a flatnose is just a case of replacing front wings, bumper and bonnet. Nothing under there in a 911 that could be affected reliability wise.

Biggest worry (after headlights) may be looking like a pimp from an eighties cop movie

Dom, Steve,
Thanks for this. So, problems with my image rather than the car right? Not sure what my image is so 80s undercover pimp could be an improvement It's good to hear you're so chuffed with yours Steve. You're not.... no, never mind.

Much as I'd like to I can't do the 23rd (away on business) which is a damn shame not only because of this meet, but it's near Camtune and they have a little red number on their website. I'll keep an eye out for a future meet. Thanks for the offer to email you directly Steve; if you don't mind I'll take you up on it and get the lowdown on this model.

Cheers

Kevin

Just noticed this thread and noticed it was you Kevin, how are you mate?

Actually during 1991 or so my dad got hold of one of these; supposed to be a present for my elder sister but she wrote off her car at the time and was banned for a year so it had to go. It was ours for only a about three months. Was a LHD turbo in burgundy with cream leather. It actually looked really good but I recall everyone who drove it mention that it was a scary bastard. I never drove it, only 13 at the time!

Got it from LHD dealer friend and returned to him again. I always thought that was a factory car! But I do recall that there were some RUF badges and it was from Germany. Maybe RUF did the conversion??? I just remember it as always being referred to as the "flatnose 911". Liked them ever since, even though some do look really ragged now.

Didn't own for long but can see it being a problem child. How comes you like all my favourite cars? Great minds and all that?
Oh, and still impressed with you driving BTW!

Kevin,
It's certainly exciting to drive but not as difficult to drive as my TVR Chimaera 450 was .

Steve - Noooooooo. Well all I can say is you lucky b@stard I've been salivating over that (your) car for a week. The only other one I've seen for sale is a factory flatnose. Forty + grand. In white. I don't think so.

Will obviously have to settle down and be patient, which is a bit of a bugger because I don't 'do' patience.

Hi Ninja! From all that's gone before, can't say it really surprises me that we like the same cars . I think these flatnoses look the absolute b******s. Scary eh? The 360 scared the cr@p out of me when I first got it and still does when it's wet. Bet the handling of your 355 gets 'interesting' then too.....

I posted the videos to you & Manu yesterday, so if you haven't already got it, it should arrive tomorrow. Enjoy! I have, lots of times.

Cheers

Thanks for the video, have been looking forward to it for the last few days, probably arrive tomorrow. Can't wait to hear the soundtrack of 355 v 360 in the tunnel. Very kind of you to make a copy! Thanks.

Steve, I have to agree with you, and you haven't even seen his driving style (fast and very, very safe!). His nickname "Jammy" is so well suited! Oh, Steve your pic link doesn't work. Would love to see a pic of your car.

A garage near me have two Flatnose Turbo's, it may be the one you mentioned. One is a factory, the other they thought was also a factory job, but has turned out to be a convertion. Both are in white. They're at Slades in Penn. Is this the one you mentioned?

Thanks Gavin!
It sounds familiar but I can't find the ad now. Found Slades website (are they MG?) but the cars aren't on it.

Thanks for the info.
