Interesting that he didn't even appear to make an attempt at a Williams seat. I'm sure that Sir Frank must have at least wanted to have a look, which probably means that Flavio played hard ball re Webber.

Flav must have more dirt on someone than Mandleson has on Blair to pull this one off so easily.

So who will fill the second Williams seat?

Would you bet against Coulthard or Ant Davidson??

Why on earth didn't Barrichello take it when he had the chance? Does he really think they'll make him no.1 driver once Schumi retires? It's quite widely known they want to move for Kimi once Michael's done...

Ohh, not heard of that one. Barrichello in a Williams would be very good indeed. A great foil for Webber.

Why indeed...

I think Ferrari will do everything they can to get Button as Schumis replacement. Ferrari will want a "personality" as well as a good driver, what they actually want is a Giles replacement but I dont think Jaques would get offered the drive. When Schumi retires I think Button and Montoya will be top of the list but when Schumi retires I can imagine Ross Brawn and Jean Todt also leaving thus whoever does join the team will be a very brave man indeed!

I think we might well see alonso in a ferrari. The great thing about the moment is that there are a few very good drivers coming up through the ranks.

JB
FA
MW
TS (yes I think Sato is good, might not always get it right but he is good)

These guys are racers and with the likes of dave richards encouraging people to actually get on with it I think it can only be good.

Good on Fisi. Mind you, it just shows how strange Briatore can be with his decisions. If Fisi is that good, why did he get rid? We all knew Fisi was good.

I think it goes to show Flav's conflict of interests don't always make sense to the outside world...

So does no-one think Rossi is actually a possibility when Shumi retires?

F3000 sensation Vitantonio Liuzzi could be in line for a Ferrari test drive.

Liuzzi has caught the eye of Ferrari supremo Jean Todt after winning six out of seven races this year, a F3000 record.

It is thought that Todt has earmarked the 23-year-old Italian as a possible long-term replacement for Michael Schumacher.

Coincidentally, Liuzzi beat the world champion at a karting race in Schuey’s native Kerpen back at the end of 2001

Can't understand this current obsession with Fisichella. Sure, he's good, but he's never stood out for me as being someone truly special. Guess we'll see next year. IMHO Alonso will wipe the floor with him.

I'd be amazed if Ferrari sign Liuzzi, but I suppose stranger things have happened. I'd love Rossi to come to F1 but I don't think it will happen

Fisi has been doing some great driving from the back of the field to the front of the pack in a car that may have last years Ferrari engine but a less than great package.

I still rate Alonso above Fisi but there won't be any trip ups like Trulli made and Fisi will actually fight for a place where Trulli won't.

Rossi has stated he has no burning desire to drive in F1 for at less the next few years but wouldn't he be a breath of fresh air to F1

Imagine what antics his fans would have to come up with when Rossi is in an F1 car rather than a bike

I still think the time his fans dressed as a cop with a radar gun pulled him over and gave him a ticket at the end of a race was brilliant!!

If I remember right he refuses to race for anyone who accepts tobacco sponsorship, which limits his choices considerably should he want to do that.

Apart from Gauloises Yamaha then?

(You're right though, I remember something similar when he was being lined up for Ducati a little while ago. Must've changed his mind.)

Hmm i think that one is Kimi's if he wants it.

Mind you, i'm not sure post-Schumi Ferrari is a good place to be. There has been some major shuffling behind the scenes at FIAT, which isn;t in the best of health, and i can see a situation where if Todt, Brawn, Byrne and Schumacher leave (or even a few of the above) Ferrari could easily slip back to the politics "FIAT managers getting involved" times of the late eighties and early nineties.

Button should stick with BAR for the time being. Apart from Car No1, there are few less competitive/suportive seats availalbe with arguably chances to improve year on year.

no. I think Valentino enjoys motogp more than he would F1 and whilst he is obviously fast enough, i dont hink he would appreciate the politics of F1.

Granted there has been some shuffling at FIAT but we are now forgetting that Jean Todt is now MD of Ferrari and Maserati, not just the race Teams but the whole company and Montezemello (sp) is over seeing things at FIAT now the Agnelis have past.
I would at least see Shumacher being retained by Ferrari in some capacity when he retires be it running the race team or helping in the car development for road cars and F1.
