a liitle help please.

I`ve used the search engine and need your thoughts, my S2 has poor idling when cold, once the engine reaches running temperature it`s fine. Before I start looking at T/P or ISCV is there anything else it could be ? Ta chaps.

UNder the throttle intakes there's a coolant temp sensor - not the one that works the gauge, this one sends the signal to the ecu. If that's shot, your ecu might not know when the engine is cold so might not be giving cold start fuel enrichment (what us old gits used to call "enough choke").

Possibly just dirty plugs?

First thing I do if I get this type of problem is disconnect all the engine related plugs check, clean, lubricate and reconnect. Seems to work most times. Particularly the multi-plug at the side of the plenum.

Thanks fellas, you`ve pretty much covered all I can think of, I thought maybe a plenum air leak but then the symptoms would be there all of the time.

i too had this and feared compression. sticky valves, lazy springs etc. turned out to simply be idle control valve. a simple clean and much improved, not perfect but very good.
