Hello all.
Does anybody know this GT2?
Seems very cheap to me at below 40k for a relatively low mile car. Not sure about the carbon fibre exterior bits and bobs, has it any skeletons in the cupboard?

I am fancying one not overly bothered about the miles as long as the car is original/straight, just feel there will be an uplift in prices due to the numbers.

A "very cheap" (your own words) car "may have history"? Hold the front page! wink

Very cheap cars are usually priced as such to lure people who don't want to miss a bargain and forgo the usual stringent checks they would normally apply. Not always, but there's a reason the adage "if something looks too good to be true, it probably is" is still used today.

Is it really that cheap? I don't keep an eye on these but I thought dealer cars were circa 45k & not shifting....

To me this car is priced right considering it is a private sale. There is a similar one at 911 virgin that is appproximately £5k more expensive and a £5k gap between private / dealer sale seems to be the norm

Even Henry is saying in his advert that these cars are starting to appreciate now.

Car is priced for a quick sale i would have thought.
If it has a little history which is suspect then it may hang around for a bit but i think its a bargain.
People in the trade/or in the know are predicting these are the next big thing for massive up lifts in values they certainly won't be hanging around the 40k mark for long, they are just too scarce.

I was considering another 996 GT2 last year and this car was a contender, didn't view it but heard from someone who has that it's a good 'un. I think arctic silver is the best colour on the 996, looks stunning.

Looking at the prices and the cars on the market since I sold mine a few years ago I reckon this is the time to get one of the straight ones and hang on to it.

how can they appreciate when there is a dozen of them stuck in the classifieds for months and not moving? As much as I would want to see them appreciate, I think this is not the case yet.

Sorry OP , can't help on original question posted. And apologies for leading thread in different direction maybe.
But leading on from erics post above, and not trying to be cheeky or insulting to current owners, why do you think that prices are going to appreciate when there are so many for sale and have been for some time ?
I know there are cars with history but following the market for some time now, there seem to be quite a few good cars on offer also ?
Just be interested to hear opinions.

That does look stunning. I'd love a pair of those seats in my turbo.

Yeah they'll hang around as they have a smaller audience.
Ferocious power and delivery & 2 seats. The values are firming up which is what happens then eventually they'll go North, seen it happen over the years and there is less than a 100 units in the UK.
Bottom line is you can have a 200mph stunning to look at GT Porsche with all the bits PCCB etc for 40k if its got a few miles on, potential buyers are missing a trick somewhere, buy them and lock them away once you've enjoyed them for a while i hasten to add, massive difference from a 996 Turbo.

Anything of this sort of money isn't moving frequently anyhow there's a recession you know.

Scuds and 360cs are moving. The latter one even creeping up in prices slowly.. So recession is not an argument.

ClassicCarMad, there are in fact 105 C16 cars remaining in the UK, some 20% of those cars have had some sort of accident damage however minor.

The 996 GT2 is great, but from my experience, buying one can prove very difficult and many people give up after the first few weeks or months of searching. As many GT2 owners on here will agree, those who own nice cars tend to hold onto them.

It also seems that most car values have firmed up in the last year or so. The prices of Ferrari 360s/355s/TRs, Lamborghini Gallardos and everything inbetween have much stronger values than this time last year but are still selling quickly. I know many of the cars listed are being brought by those across the pond where the GT2 is not as popular, but I think it will be a few more years before the values of GT2s increase significantly, especially as the 997 GT2 is fast becoming a bit of a bargain.

All IMO of course.

My buying experience with the GT2 was the easiest of all the 911's i've owned if i'm honest couple of emails to those in the know and a bit of due diligence etc & the deal was done, a year in and its cost me nothing either, all the necessaries have been done, clutch/shields all round/air con/rads etc.
I cannot say that about some of my low mile air-cooled cars i've previously owned and the 996 turbo i owned, they ended up costing me more over 12 months.
In terms of values being a tight Yorkshire man as long as i don't lose my shirt and i hazed a guess i will come out stronger as of most of my previous 911's.
Will values go North?
Who gives a feck.
Some one in the know told me there are less than a 100 C16 too in the UK?
