Could have been so much worse.

What tyres were you running?

How did it happen?

Seemed to be on a straight when it aquaplaned.

toyo r888.

just ordered some wets today for next time, not risking r888's in the wet again.

Woah! That felt horrible just watching, god knows what it would have felt like from the drivers seat, hope you and the car are not too bruised.

In the same situation, would you do anything differently? It just sounded like the tyres jumped up and sat on the water, I guess at that point you are just a passenger!

st - glad you are ok buddy - I have only AP'd once, in my first Z3M roadster in 2001, the roll bars saved my bacon but the car was FUBAR!

i tried doing everything, it was like slow motion when it went, i initially corrected, then steered into the spin sort of trying to avoid wall all whilst going on and off the brakes, nothing i did had any effect on the direction or speed the car.
the only thing i would of done differently would be to jump over the pit wall slower so i don't rip my overals

Wow - bad luck mate! That straight holds a lot of surface water when it's wet.

I had a big sphincter moment in exactly the same place last year on a very wet day...luckily the traction control, rather than me, saved it.

Hope rear not too bad and other panels repairable/ surface damage.

That's why then. Looking at the video there's way too much standing water for R888s, I had a similar experience on the motorway on A048s on the way to an event, luckily held the car and avoided a crash. The sheer quantity of water overcomes the tread and your off....
I run T1Rs now whenever any puddles are about, hope you get the car fixed OK.

I'm not sure whether to say "oh bad luck" or "oh, you were lucky there" confused

On a related note - did anyone see the second Carrera Cup race on Sunday from Thruxton? All on slicks in what became a wet race eek - just watching it had me very twitchy. Fantastic to watch and amazing how much grip they seemed to have (not to mention big balls).

the size of my balls is nothing compared to the chap who qualified a DB4 on pole with a 1:12, a car with questionable handling in the dry and easily worth £200k
