996 mk1 discs and tyres.
Discussion
Hi all,
I need to get some new front discs and tyres for my mk1 gt3. It has the original 4 pot brakes. Are OEM discs the best option or I have seen jzm offer Alcon discs with a seperate bell. The car is mainly go road use with a little track work. are the alcons worth the extra money ?
Secondly, the car needs some new boots too. It has pirelli p zero Rossos on a the the moment and it seems the choice in mk1 sizes is fairly limited. What have other people found the best tyre to be for this car ?
Cheers,
James

Hi James,
The standard four pots with decent fast road pads like Ferodo DS2500 & quality synthetic brake fluid are more than up to the job of fast road driving and a few trackdays a year. They did me fine for the first season in my car which included trips to Spa & Ring.. The reasons i upgraded to Alcons & Pagid RS 29's all was for the massive extra stopping power and longevity for the amount of trackdays i do.. The o/e discs do not last very long when used heavily on track.
I use 235/40/18 & 285/30/18 Federal 595 RSR E marked road legal trackday tyres from Demon Tweeks at under £600. for a set of four.. Pirelli P-Zero slicks for trackdays.
