yb cosworth engine weight
Discussion
I would guess it was around 140 kg's with all the bits, maybe a little more depending on spec because my engine had external wastegate and a big turbo which all adds more weight.
It's for sale if anyone wants it, RS500 head and intake plenum with 200 studded bock and pace dry sump etc, new pistons new block new dry sump kit and RS500 intake all new parts with new throttle body etc, engine is being built by Ahmed Bayjoo and then being mapped and then it's up for sale as a running engine ready to install, it's over 500hp. email me for details.
Cheers

why do you need to know?
pintos are heavy
add the steel crank and a turbo and you get a very heavy setup.
and if you dont use the 200 block you get a very heavy engine that will pop at any minute.
then theres all the crap that goes with sorting out the oil system(so it dosnt throw it all over everywhere when you go round a corner at more than 0.5g)what are you putting the yb into?
there are newer engines out there that will do the job better in nearer standard form.
the only thing the yb has going for it is that it has parts available for every application and every power you could want

The oil problem is easily alleviated with the use of a 3 port breather setup.
I cant think of a more modern engine 2.0 16v turbo that produces torque or power like the old YB can.
Im not running with the YB anymore but it is a fantastic engine and so strong! these things can be thrashed with 500 BHP and trouble free if you have the right people build it, I think most of the problems are with the people who build these engines and not the engine itself, lots of people try to map the engines and blow them up then say they are crap.
Good engine still going strong.
