Right, here's a plan.

This event is PostPoned until October

Saturday 4th September 2004, Lakes Invasion.

* People from Newcastle area meet and travel over A686, Middlesborough area meet and travel over A66.
* Everyone meet at the RegHed center (just off Penrith) to leave around 10:30.
* a route of about 140miles, mostly on single track road - usually slower (<40mph) but the views are stunning.
* Picnic / BBQ for lunch around 1 on the way.
* Visit Ambleside, Grasmere (lovely shortbread), and stop in Keswick for tea (Fish and Chips).
* Head home in same convoys as the morning.

If enough people are interested I'll head and organise a route, stop off points etc to hand out.

Please say if you're interested below

I'm in.

The car should be going for its MOT (I said going for, not necessarily passing...) this friday and then hopefully out to play over the weekend.
Which means it should be about ready for the 4th September.

BTW, this car is causing me to go grey already!

I though passing an MOT was down to 'sweet talking' and bribery these days.

He's quite lenient....
'Car's like these don't really need an emissions test'.
I didn't argue last year, I won't argue this year.

I was thinking of a trip from York to the lakes in the autumn so could combine it with yours. I assume that the 140 miles was in the lakes only and the return trip is extra.

Were you intending to include a blast across Ulpha Fell and Hardknott/Wrynose passes ? I did the passes last year on the Bristol TVRCC visit and want to do them again, this time in the Chimaera

cool stuff. As soon as I get the Marlin running again I'll head over and get the route sorted.

The plan would be to take in the 4 major passes in the Lakes, which is a route of 140miles or so - getting there is extra unfortunately.

It went in for surgery yesterday so should be back to normal in time for this run. (May not make the Holy Island Hoon as it needs an MoT too).

Um, I'm not able to make it across to the Lakes to plan the trip so unless someone else can make it and plan it for you...

Otherwise, may I suggest we move the event to mid/late October and make it one of the final "runs" of the year?

Right, I'm GENUINELY in for this one.
Car sailed through the MOT on Friday, was out playing yesterday without a hitch.
MickC seemed impressed as did Jagsy + family.

Just an iffy water temp gauge to sort now.

Stefan I would like to wait until you're fit again. You know the route and have been running with this one. Let us know when you're ready to relaunch the idea. I'll support it as always.

Fingers crossed I will be there

Anyone else heading over from the York area want to make the trip west more interesting by forming a queue?
