GEARING Questions

Just wondering what gearing people are running and the speeds they can maintain on the flats.

R3 - 50/13 - 85RPM = 24 MPH
TT Bike - 54/12 85 RPM = 28 MPH

This is with light winds ( head )

Interested in what others are running and the speeds they are doing

You mean what top gear people have got? I assume you list the top gear of both your bikes and what speed you go in that gear?

If so then my top gear:

52/13 maybe 25 on flat? (For about 10sec)

My gearing:

52/42 26-13

That is a million dollar question and depends on how much power someone puts through the pedals, and/or how fast they can pedal, there are still some people who can ride a 25mile TT under the hour on a 72" gear averaging around 118rpm

Look on here at the gear charts for the size of gear with Chainwheel/Sprocket combinations then below that a speed chart at various Gear size/pedal RPM combinations
