Ryanair friendly camera rucksacks

Evening,

Unfortunately I will find myself flying that dreadful airline to Venice in June, with the stupid hand luggage restrictions. I want to take my camera and obviously don't want it going in the hold.

The 20cm depth is 5cm less than my Fastpack 350 but I can't risk having to check anything in, there's a whole bunch of us going for a martial arts training weekend and I don't want to be causing any delays or issues. It needs to carry a D700, 16-35 & 50 lenses, Kindle, phone and charger and a few other small odds and ends.

What camera bags have people successfully taken on Ryanair as hold luggage?

Anything smaller and lighter than they state.

That's a shoulder bag but thanks anyway I understand they have contracted staff patrolling looking for people that might have bags that go over size/weight limits, and even if bags fit in their size-checking cages, make them check them in anyway. The bds.

Flew to Poznan recently with Ryanair, no issues at all with my lowepro mini trekker. Holds a couple of bodies, decent amount of lenses and space for other crap.

Edited to add, there's also a zipped pocket at the front which holds my netbook and cables. Your requirements will fit in this bag no problem at all.

I don't think they're anywhere near as bad as people make out - flew EJ (okay, slightly more customer-focused than RA) a couple of months ago and they were taking people's luggage off them at the gate to much protest, but these were the ones in the growing group that take a small wheeled suitcase on board (the top end of which will just about fit in the cage if shoved hard) to try and avoid paying hold fares!

Flew RA late last year and got my DJ bag (like this: http://www.decks.co.uk/products/udg_bags/udg_sling... on without a second glance - I'd expect that to be bigger than most camera gear bags!

We've flown with our Lowepro Vertex 200s on a number of flights. They're fantastic for build quality and kit capacity, but if you fully load them you might exceed weight limits. They are about £130 new or £70 second hand.

Interesting, both the Mini Trekker and Vertex 200 are of a similar size to my Fastpack 350. I wonder if I will get away with it ...
