How many previous owners is too many?
Discussion
I absolutely get the "buy on condition" thing but at what point does a number of previous owners become a concern? I am looking at a 993 cab that has had 8 previous owners. That would make me, if I buy it, the tenth. In 16 years. Less than 18 months each. That sounds like a lot. Assuming the car is ok otherwise, would it put you off / detract from its value?
Don't forget on older cars a reg change used to be recorded as an owner change. I've got a 993, with 8 owners on the log book, I have every bill, so by following the names in the service record, it actually has had 5 owners. Porsche frequently have private plates so this is usual stuff.
Always nice to have a one owner car but high end marques often get changed frequently because they are "toys". Hate to say it but had a Nissan GTR for just a couple of months before I bought the Spyder. It's the norm for me to have 3 or more cars a year. I tend to just hang on to my daily driver though.
As said, buy on condition.

Ah, I didn't know that and I can see from the hip check that it has had a couple of private plates on it. That is really helpful, thank youGassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
