What started out as a small personal project to gather some pictures of my cousins when we were all kids seems to be turning into a major documentation project including all aspects of the family.

Part of peoples collections are prints but there is a large majority that are slides. I'd like to ensure I got all bases covered so I've been looking at investing in a slide scanner (probably purchased on ebay and then sold once again once I've used it).

I see that the Nikon Coolscans get quite a good rating - but I'd be interested in hearing peoples opinion of either them or any others that they'd recommend.

Ideally I'd like to have the ability to set it up to do batch scanning.

Mucho thanks in advance.

I gave up using and trying to get a decent scanner. I resorted to a macro lens, slide on a light box with a flash on manual in it and camera on manual on a bracket. Cheaper and far better quality with all th benefits of raw if needed.
