996 Maximum Driver Height

Hello,

Can anyone tell me the maximum (safe & comfortable) height for a 996 driver?

Well I am 6' 1'' and the problem I have is with the steering wheel adjustment. My knees always hit the steering wheel.
It also depends on which 996 you are looking at - if its a 996 GT2/3 Clubsport then it will be a tighter fit - luckily I still fit.

In my TIPEC group I have one guy who is 6ft 3" and a big guy & our chairman is 6ft 4" with a Cab. My ARO is comfy in his fathers 996 & he is 6ft 2"I suspect a lot depends on body vs leg length.

The car is a C4S Coupe and the client/driver in question is 6'6"

I'm 6ft 6 with long leg/body ratio and drove 996's for 4 years.

They are a bit small for me, but I still did lots of long trips no problem, including down to Le Mans.

I'm 6'4" and I've ended up changing the steering wheel to give my knees a bit more space. The problem was my right knee hitting steering wheel when moving my foot onto the brake. Still not ideal, but it's better.

To add to your stats, I am 6ft5 and didn't find the 996 comfortable in terms of space mainly because the seat was too high and the steering wheel didn't adjust down/up. I did fir, just not comfortably enough.

The 997 seems to have considerably more space inside, I have almost a couple of inches between my head and the roof (non sunroof model).

Hi what steering wheel did you get, have the same problem with the Boxster (and I'm looking for a 996 anyway)?

Are you sure you had the seat at its lowest?
Just the other day I noted the surprisingly large amount of headroom I have in my 996t for such a sleek car (I'm just short of 6') , but I do like the seat very low.

I'm 6'4" & salad intolerant and I can get fairly settled in the comfort seats, however I don't have to stretch too far before my head touches the roof and there's not a lot of room twixt knee & steering wheel.

No problems in my 996 either (6' 3.75")

It's a bit tighter in the Spyder though.....

Another 6ft 6" 996 driver. mine has a sunroof and i only sort of fit. not an ideal driving position but liveable with. I keep meaning to do the centre console delete as i struggle with left knee room!
