after trying and failing to find a decent 993 that I liked, at the right price, I took the easy option and bought a Boxster S from a main dealer. Sorry!! But, hopefully, will give me the Porsche bug, and next year can trade up to a 996!

In any case, is a Boxster allowable to come along to the meet???

Yeah, of course it is. All hairdressers welcome

Only joking. Great car.

Hope to see it in the flesh on the 23rd. Is it a good colour?

Domster - I looked at a few in the garages and privately, and almost every one of them was silver or black/blue. I saw two in rainforest green, loved it and bought one of them. I know it might be more difficult to sell, but I decided it was worth it to have something SLIGHTLY different.

SB930 Turbo - not sure. Can I let you know next week some time?

Glad to see you saw sense and bought one of the best handling Porsches ever made....(IMHO ) and the weather has just arrived to enjoy fantastc roof down fun.

I'm still considering a 996 though....

Good choice of colour. I'm bored of polar silver, even if it is a nice colour.

Favourite colour combination would have to be mint green on a GT2, though!

Know what you mean...I know its traditional but there are TOO MANY silver Porsches IMO. Mine's Lapis Blue which I love...there's something about Guard's Red though that is speaking to me at the minute. And its saying Carrera 4 Coupe....ummmn.

My soon-to-arrive 964RS is in Guard's Red, and I'm not a massive fan, but the respray is meant to be magnificent and I'm prepared to go with it...

I like Guards Red. And I saw a lovely Boxster S , Guards Red, 18" Sportdesign wheels, low mileage...but I still couldn't buy it. I had visions of gold chains, and low-buttoned shirts..aviator sunglasses, and an italian accent!!!

Thanks...I'm having a crisis as it is!!

No, seriously - after having driven it, im very happy with my choice, and I cant wait unti I pick it up this evening. I'm also sure that the insurance company is very happy with their £3k premium

Hey. I'm a New Man. I'm in touch with my feelings. I can drive a Boxster S!

How anyone can think >200bhp per tonne is hairdressery I'll never know. But there you go. Enjoy your new beast. You will love it. This weekend I'm off for a thrash around the Brecon Beacons. Hope you get to enjoy yours in the sunny weather...

Holy s**t! You must have a lousy post-code!?! I pay £1100 WITH Track Day cover.

Thinking of that. Have you joined PCGB? I rather enjoy their magazine and I'm going to a couple of their track days this year. I you like Porsches its worth it, I reckon.

Anyway. Enjoy!

I 've changed my mind and am going for met black / black leather for my '02 996 now. It'll be a pain to keep spotless but I'm seeing so many silverish variations out there. Should look pretty damn mean. Wouldn't mind some black 18'' carreras too.

Unfortunately, its because I'm 28 with no no-claims bonus. Teh car will be kept in a secure car-park, so no worries on it being stolen! I'm taking it to anglesey for teh long weekend, so I'm hoping to enjoy the roads round there
