I'm after a bike to do a few mile a day (in decent weather), would this be any good?

I know nothing about bikes so thought I better ask!

Can't see the frame size but it looks tiny.

So, if you're tiny, go for it!

hmm, looks like a bit of a heap im afraid.

and yeah frame is very small, hence the long stem and really high seat to make it rideable by a normal sized person

its a hardrock sport disc circa 2006/7, SWMBO has one, if you can get it for around £100 its fine, certainly good enough for the ocassional hack around some fields and trails. its pretty heavy and has fairly basic kit but its an entry level mtb so what can you really expect for the money. They had quite odd geometry, it looks like a 15" though it could quite easily be a 17" dependant upon how they measure them, centre of bottom brack to the top of the seat tube etc....did i mention its heavy... it has a fairly basic rst fork but it does the job


if you go to http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bc/home.jsp then hover over the red logo on the left, the drop down menu has each model by year so it wont take long to find the spec. Its nothinhg special but you could do a lot worse.

buy it, strip it, lube and re-assemble. in simple terms, becuase its budget kit, its largely fit and forget but if you need any parts you can pick up new oem rear mechs that fit it for £15. try searching for rt cycles and fishing in scotland, i use them for parts on cheap rebuilds.
