I'm toying with buying a local '01 CLK 320 with 37k on the clock for 6k. Anyone able to advise as to the good / bad points, running costs, buying advice and things I need to look out for? Any advice is appreciated

Had a 320 52 plate...the price you are saying for a 01 appears to be highly excessive, as it would be the W208 rather than W209...you can pick up a lovely W209 320 for that money

The electronics such as computer etc. Make sure everything electric works properly.

Look for rust on the bodywork.

Listen for noises from the catalytic converters, they are expensive to replace.

Feel the carpets for damp too - especially in the passenger footwell.

Water started dripping on my son's feet when driving mine yesterday after it had sat idle in the rain for a couple of days.

I googled it this morning & it seems to be a common problem - loads of hits!

Not the end of the world - apparently just crud - leaves etc, blocking a couple of drain holes under the bonnet but can rot carpets & stuff the aircon & heaters if ignored.
